Charles A. Faul Sr.

Mr. Charles A. Faul Sr., 95, of Galesburg, Illinois formerly of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 3:20 P.M. at the Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg.

He was born August 13, 1915 in Macomb, Illinois, the son of Herbert and Effie Markham Faul. On March 16, 1938 he married Alta Ballou in Kahoka, Missouri. She preceded him in death on September 25, 2001.

Mr. Faul attended school in Good Hope, Illinois and served in the US Navy during World War II. He lived most of his life in Dallas City where he worked as a mechanic for Guy Ollis gas station. He later retired from Montgomery Ward in Burlington where he worked as their repairman. After retiring, he started his own small engine repair shop. He was known for being able to repair most anything.

He is survived by one daughter, Patricia Patch of Galesburg, four sons, Herbert Gene (Karan) Faul of Fort Madison, Iowa, Charles (Cheryl) Faul Jr., Max (Portia) Faul and Ralph (Paula) Faul all of Dallas City, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Eva Jean Hopkins of Kansas City, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one grandson, four brothers, three sisters and his parents.

Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. James Clement officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. The family will meet with friends from 1:00 P.M. until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the Harbor Lights Hospice of Galesburg.
