Charles "Gene" Cramberg

Mr. Charles Gene Cramberg, 86, of Dallas City, IL passed away at his home at 5:00 AM Monday, June 30, 2014. He was born on June 4, 1928 in Dallas City, the son of Elgy and Ruth Patterson Cramberg. On July 10, 1949 he married Joanne Claudine Bell in Colusa, IL.

Gene attended the Dallas City High School and joined the U.S. Navy in 1949 where he worked at the U.S. Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune, NC. Mr. Cramberg then worked at the IAAP near Middleton, IA for 27 years. Gene The Trader always made trades or swaps on guns, bows and arrows, boats, etc. He was an avid sportsman and loved fishing, boating, mushrooming, and hunting of all kinds with gun or bow. Gene owned an archery business for many years, where he made bows and mechanical releases. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, and the National Field Archery Association for 35 years. He was also a member American Bowling Congress for 50 years and has bowled 3 perfect games.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne, one daughter, Kathy Pindell of Galesburg, IL, two sons, Kenny Cramberg of Carman, IL, and Kevin Cramberg of Dallas City, 5 grandchildren, Tish Peterson, Jason Pindell, Amie Rosson, Randi Copeland, and Jessica Cramberg, 5 great-grandchildren, Jeremy Peterson, Autumn Peterson, Hannah Pindell, Urijah Copeland, and Reagan Pindell, and 2 sisters, Charlotte Knuth of Galesburg and Janice Brags of East Galesburg.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and family are to gather at Banks and Beals Funeral home in Dallas City at 10:45 AM before processing to a graveside service which will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 5, 2014 in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. Following the services, friends and family are invited to the Dallas City Community Center for a time of food and refreshments and to celebrate Genes life.
