Cassius Ray Sutton, 20 day old son of Christopher Sutton and Novalee Kauffman, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

Cassius was born December 28, 2025 in Iowa City. Although Cassius' time was short, his strength was fierce and his impact on those closest to him was great.

He is survived by his parents, Chris and Nova, his grandparents: Clarence Sutton Jr., Amy Rieck, Vaughn Vansant, and Heather James; his great-grandmothers: Pauline Sutton, Connie Carey and Jinny Hood and his aunts and uncles: Hailey Vansant, Ivy Ruben, Bethany Silverio, Elisha Sutton and William Charlton.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents: Clarence Sutton Sr., Francis Carey and Dennis Hood and great-great-grandparents: Kenneth and Mildred Woods.

The service for Cassius will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2026 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. Burial will follow in Crane Cemetery, near Lomax.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
