Carter Jay William Anderson, 10, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away at 10:59 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

Carter was born on April 10, 2008 in Cedar Rapids the son of Terry and Alex Housewright Anderson.

He was a 2nd Grade student at the Prairie Ridge Elementary School in Cedar Rapids, IA. Carter loved listening to music, especially listening to his Aunt Kourtni sing to him and to his musical

puppy toy. He looked forward to going to Grandma (Debbie) and Grandpa (Steve) "Grape's" house. He loved splashing around in warm water at bath time. He liked picking and scratching at different textures (especially jeans and couches). He loved attending his annual co-ed softball fundraiser tournament, Carter's Crew Takes the Field, in La Harpe, Illinois. He enjoyed going to school and had so many wonderful teachers and classmates. He thoroughly enjoyed school fieldtrips to Camp Courageous in Monticello, Iowa. He was a huge Scooby Doo fan and watched episode after episode with his Grandma (Debbie) "Grape" while they ate chocolate ice cream and chocolate pudding. His favorite color was green and his favorite animal was frogs. He looked forward to spending time with his siblings and cousins. He enjoyed long conversations and rocking on the front porch with family. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.

Survivors include his parents, Terry and Alex; three siblings, Rhyleigh Thomas, Jace Anderson and Bastian Anderson, all of Cedar Rapids, IA; his paternal grandmother, Penny Anderson of Cedar Rapids, IA, paternal great-grandparents, Sharon and Dave Anderson and Linda and Leon Jones of Cedar Rapids, IA; maternal grandmother, Michelle Nichols of Cedar Rapids, IA, maternal great-grandparents, Steve and Debbie Reed of LaHarpe, IL, and Rebecca Quivey of LaHarpe; maternal great great grandparents, Arlin and Carol Clover of LaHarpe, IL and Patricia Housewright of LaHarpe; two aunts, Samantha Taylor and Nichole Ford; two uncles, Nick Taylor and Trevor McMurrin; and two great-aunts, Kourtni Reed and Mindy (Justin) Johnson of LaHarpe, IL.

He was preceded in death by great-grandfather, Terry Housewright, great-great-grandfather, William Housewright and great-great-grandmother, Anna Lou Read.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the LaHarpe Christian Church with Rev. Rick Goettsche officiating. Burial will follow in the Gittings Mound Cemetery near Lomax, IL. A visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, also at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the Carter Anderson Fund.
