Mrs. E. Carrol Henry, 88, of Blandinsville, IL passed away at 8:00am Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb, IL.
She was born April 24, 1930 in Blandinsville, the daughter of Charles and Pearl Goff Sanders. On June 9, 1951 she married Virgil "Bud" Henry in Macomb, IL. He preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 2010.
Carrol was raised in Blandinsville where she graduated from high school in 1948. She then graduated from Methodist School of Nursing in Peoria. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 60 years, first at St. Francis Hospital in Macomb, IL and for the majority of her career, for Dr. B.I. Mueller in LaHarpe. Later she worked for the Henderson County Health Dept. and the McDonough County Health Dept. She retired from the Beu Health Center at WIU.
Carrol was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, served on the board of the Blandin House Museum and was a member of the Blandinsville United Methodist Church where she served in numerous capacities, including the church board and choir. She always looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Lynn Kern of Blandinsville and Cheryl (Tim) Flint of Troy, IL, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Justin (Kelly) Flint and their daughter, Hazel, Ashley (Jerry) Fields and their daughter, Mikinley, Joshua (Christy) Kern and their children, Brayden and Mikayla, Jeremy Kern and Zachary Kern, one nephew, Paul (Jane) Chapin of Blandinsville and one niece, Kathy (Roger) Lee of Springfield, IL.
Carrol was preceded in death by her husband, and one sister, Lou Keithly.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Blandinsville United Methodist Church with Pastors Beth Nelson and Lyren Haney officiating. Burial will be in the Glade City Cemetery, Blandinsville. Friends may call after 3:00PM Friday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 until 7:00PM Friday. A memorial fund has been established for the Blandinsville United Methodist Church.
