Carol Joan Neff

, 76, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away at 2:09 a.m. Wednesday August 26, 2015 at her home. She was born December 16, 1938 in Canton, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Virginia Baker Westerfield. She was adopted and raised by Chester and Juanita Avery Lovitt. On September 22, 1978, she married Lawrence D. Neff in Stronghurst, Illinois.

Mrs. Neff had been employed at Wal-Mart in West Burlington for nineteen years. She was a graduate of LaHarpe High School and worked as a waitress at the former Travelers Inn restaurant for many years. She enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines and Harmony Incorporated for several years. She was a member of the Stronghurst United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Survivors include her husband, two sons, Richard (Julie) Jarvis of Mahomet, IL, Jeff (Kim) Jarvis of Niota, IL, three daughters, Laurie Cramberg of Cedar Rapids, IA, Hope Schaefer of Lomax, IL, Tonya (Jesse) Garnsey of Burlington, IA, several grandchildren, one great granddaughter, one brother, Raymond (Pat) Westerfield of Gallatin, TN, and one sister, Betty (Jim) Wingert of Salt Lake City, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, adoptive parents, and one sister, Sharon Lovitt.

The funeral service for Mrs. Neff will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday August 29, 2015 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, with Rev. Karna Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials have been established for the Stronghurst United Methodist Church Building Fund and Hospice Compassus.
