Carol Ann Barr, 79, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away at 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at the Bickford of Macomb, Illinois.

Carol was born August 4, 1945 in Defiance, Ohio, the daughter of Donald E. and Esther M. (Katterheinrich) Barr.

Survivors include one brother: Tom (Karen) Barr of Snohomish, Washington; one sister-in-law: Toni Wojcik of Edwardsville, Illinois; one niece: Shelly (Darren) Spangler of Fountain Green, Illinois and one nephew: Darin Barr of Tacoma, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: David E. Barr.

Carol was a 1963 graduate of Edwardsville High School. She received her bachelors degree in 1967 and her masters degree in 1972, both from Illinois State University. She taught elementary school in Decatur for 33 years, retiring in 2000. She enjoyed traveling and proudly visited all 7 continents with her favorite being Australia, visiting there 4 times. After retiring and in between her travels, she worked for the State of Illinois, evaluating preschool programs, was an Election Judge Trainer for several years in Macon County and even worked at the Niantic Elevator for a couple seasons as a "scale girl." Carol also served on the Macon County Conservation District Board of Trustees from 1996 until 2001.

Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home.
