Carl Phillip Reeder, 89, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away at 10:05 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2023 at the Ramsey Village Continuing Care in Des Moines, Iowa.

Carl was born July 31, 1933, in Carthage, Illinois, the son of Leslie R. and Evangeline (Youngmeyer) Reeder. On September 2, 1956 he married Donna Marie White in LaHarpe. She preceded him in death November 17, 2015.

Carl graduated from LaHarpe High School in 1952. He joined the Naval Reserves in 1951 and served active duty after high school as a Hospital Corpsman, serving in the Great Lakes and Seattle, Washington areas during the Korean War. He was Honorably Discharged in 1955.

Carl worked in the telephone communication industry for over 30 years and returned to his hometown of LaHarpe when he and Donna retired. He was a member of the Burnside Christian Church.

Survivors include three sons: Byron (Julie) Reeder of Independence, Iowa, Mark (Faith) Reeder of Woodstock, Georgia and Mike (Tammy) Reeder or Grimes, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren plus one on the way, he adored all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Judy (Doug) Mabry and Linda Sadler.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Don Reeder.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Nichols officiating. Burial with Military Rites will follow in LaHarpe Cemetery.
