Mrs. Beulah Eileen Mohr, 89, of Quincy, IL, formerly of Dallas City, IL passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 9:18 A.M. at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

She was born February 29, 1920 at the familys home in rural Colusa, Illinois, the only child of Kent and Kathryne Clark Dunham. On August 3, 1947 she married Alvin Donald Mohr at the First Christian Church in Dallas City. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2009.

She was a graduate of the Dallas City High School and Gem City Business College in Quincy. Beulah worked at the Sheaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, Iowa for two years. She later decided to work in civil service and was prepared to move to Washington DC when the program was cancelled. She then worked for Dodd Printing Company in Fort Madison.

She was a housewife for the years that her husband farmed and when they purchased and operated the Dunham Oil Company and Conoco Service Station, both in Dallas City, she served as the office staff and bookkeeper. Beulah was a lifelong member of the Dallas City First Christian Church and was active in the Christian Womens Fellowship. She enjoyed reading and doing all kinds of needlework and sewing. For a number of years she served as a 4-H leader. She was an excellent cook and canned and prepared much garden produce from Dons garden. For a number of years she operated a ceramic shop and gave lessons in her home. She especially enjoyed the winters she and Don spent in Arizona after retirement.

Surviving are two daughters, Donna (and Don) McCain of Quincy and Bette Mohr of Galesburg, Illinois and two grandchildren, Deanna (Buster) McDaniel of Silex, Missouri and Donald (Nicole) McCain of Alamo Heights, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Tony Newton officiating. Cremation rites will follow the funeral service, with private burial in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City at a later date. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Banks & Beals. A memorial fund has been established for the Dallas City First Christian Church.
