Betty M. Thomas, 87, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012 at 4:00 PM at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center in LaHarpe.

She was born March 13, 1924 in Macomb, Illinois, the daughter of Jesse and Leana Shaner Johnson. On October 8, 1957 she married Jay Thomas in Indianapolis, Indiana. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1999.

Mrs. Thomas lived most of her married life in the Indianapolis area where she worked for the Genuine Parts Company for many years. She moved to Blandinsville in 1990 and had been a resident of the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center for the past five years.

She is survived by 1 step-daughter, Londa Woody of Franklin, North Carolina, 6 step-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Geneva Keithley of Macomb, Illinois, 2 brothers, Wayne Bud (Donna) Johnson of Woodhull, Illinois and Don (Val) Johnson of Macomb and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 step-son, Ed Thomas, 2 sisters, Eva Banks and Irene Kimler and 4 brothers, Richard, Eugene, Carroll and Keith Johnson.

No services are planned. Following cremation, burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery. Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe is assisting with arrangements. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Facility.
