Mrs. Betty Ann Parrish, 89, of Burlington, IA, formerly of Gladstone, IL, passed away at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Klein Center in West Burlington, IA.

She was born on June 4, 1927 in Litchfield, NE the daughter of Seth H. and Flora Van Richmond. On June 2, 1956 she married Raleigh Parrish in Oquawka, IL, he survives.

Mrs. Parrish was a 1945 graduate of the Oquawka High School, where she graduated as Valedictorian of her class. She then attended Western Illinois University, graduating in 1949 with a music major. She taught music for many years in several Henderson County, Illinois schools. Also, Betty had taught piano lessons for 30 years. Betty was a past member of the Oquawka Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and loved playing the piano.

Survivors include her husband, Raleigh, one son, Mark (Carol) Parrish of Carman, IL, one daughter, Linda (Mike) Churchill of Effingham, IL, one sister, Nancy (Andy) Carlson of Rosetta, IL and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Edna Richmond, and two brothers, Seth and Jack Richmond.

No services are planned at this time. Burial will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
