Obituary

Betty Louise Johnson, 93, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away at 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at her home.

Betty was born February 23, 1929 in Macomb, Illinois, the daughter of Clyde and Neva (Hancock) George. On March 7, 1948 she married Robert Eugene Johnson. He preceded her in death after 72 years of marriage on May 23, 2020.

Betty is survived by four sons: Roger (Mary Ann) Johnson, Rex (Debbie) Johnson all of LaHarpe, Ricky (Debbie) Johnson of rural Carthage and Ronnie (Traci) Johnson of rural Blandinsville; three daughters: Rita Bennett and Rhonda (Delbert) Kreps all of LaHarpe and Renee (Dickie) Goff of Biggsville, Illinois; 33 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister: Mary McKinney.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Gene; one son: Randy; three grandsons; three brothers: Bill, Lloyd and Robert George and one sister: Anna Mae Montgomery.

Betty was a 1947 graduate of LaHarpe High School. Her life revolved around family and farming. She took pride in raising her eight children and helping Gene on the farm. She enjoyed quilting and always had a large garden to provide produce for family.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2022 at LaHarpe Cemetery, LaHarpe, with Larry Hobby officiating.

Friends may call from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2022 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, the family will not be present.
