Bernice Lucile Little, 96, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away at 12:58 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2021 at the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst.
Bernice was born on January 30, 1925 in Macomb, Illinois, the daughter of Lloyd Lacey and Nellie Gay (Wilhelm) Lanier. On November 21, 1943 she married Guy Wayne Little in Macomb, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 12, 1972.
Bernice was a graduate of Industry High School. Following graduation she worked for a short time in Macomb. Early in their marriage, Bernice and Wayne lived in Macon, Georgia, where he was stationed. During Wayne's deployment she returned to Macomb before settling in Stronghurst. Bernice worked as a secretary for McFall & Grigsby Insurance Agency in Stronghurst for 12 years after Wayne passed away.
Bernice was a member of Stronghurst United Methodist Church, where she sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School, helped with Bible School, and was active on several church committees. She was also a member of the Stronghurst American Legion Auxiliary and The Order Of The Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters: Patricia (Philip) Peterson of Batavia, Illinois and Pamela (Todd) Stevenson of Stronghurst, Illinois, one daughter-in-law: Jody Little, five grandchildren: Curt Little, Nicholas Fittante, Stephen Little, Patrick Peterson and Kendra Peterson, and two great-grandchildren: Draven and Piper.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son: Lloyd Wayne Little.
The funeral service for Mrs. Little will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Pastor Scott Collier officiating. Burial will follow in the LaHarpe Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
