Mr. Ben Oliver Heap, 92, of Media, IL died at 1:30 PM Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.

He was born July 4, 1926 in Media, the son of Perry Oliver and Mary Sullivan Heap. On April 30, 1949 he married Katherine Masters in Burlington, IA. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2001.

Mr. Heap was 1944 graduate of the Media-Wever High School. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He farmed near Media for most of his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Ideal Hunting Club.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Judy (Don) DeLaney of Hurdland, MO and Susan Heap of Media, 1 son, Alan (Jeanie) Heap of St. Cloud, FL, 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, 1 brother, James Heap and his parents.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, IL with Steve Minkler officiating. Burial, with Military Rites, will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, near Media. The family will meet with friends, Tuesday, from noon until time of services at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the Disabled American Veterans.
