Barbara Lee Schroeder

Barbara Lee Schroeder, age 81 of Stronghurst, Illinois died at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday October 13, 2010 in the University Hospital in Iowa City. She was born October 22, 1928 in Lomax, Illinois, the daughter of Elmer and Dorothy Lund Klossing. On February 11, 1948, she married Paul Schroeder in Olena, Illinois.

She was employed at Vancil Locker Service in Stronghurst for thirteen years, and later owned and operated Schroeders Dairy Stop in Stronghurst for eleven years. She also assisted her husband with the operation of the family farm. She was an active member of the Stronghurst Christian Church where she taught Bible School for several years.

Survivors include her husband, one son - Ed (Cathy) Schroeder of Burlington, Iowa, two daughters - Sharon (Don) Annegers of Stronghurst, Connie Moberg of Gladstone, IL., one grandson - Josh Schroeder, two brothers - Dean (Joan) Klossing of Biggsville, IL., Don (Nancy) Klossing of Cassville, WI., and one sister - Verlee (Bill) Hatcher of Plano, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter- Karen Schroeder.

Visitation will be from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday October 18, 2010 in the Stronghurst Christian Church with Rev. Steve Minkler officiating. Burial will follow in the Stronghurst Cemetery.
