Barbara A. Carothers Prescott, 74, of Burlington died at 3:27 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Born Oct. 14, 1943 in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Robert Carothers and Roeene Butler Carothers Miller. She married Henry Prescott on January 14, 1963 in Dallas City, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2008.

Barbara was a 1961 graduate of the Dallas City High School. She enjoyed having family and friends over to entertain, playing cards, and loved flowers.

Barbara is survived by two children: Jamie Prescott of Burlington, and Joel (Sherry) Prescott of Tierra Verde, FL, four grandchildren: Kelsi, Colton, Joel, and Conner, one sister: Sue Dues of Fort Madison, IA and several nieces and nephews.

Aside from her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Kay Sly.

There will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for the Mercy Hospital Mental Health Department in Iowa City.
