Arthur Leland Hunerdosse, 97, of Burlington, Iowa, formerly of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023 at his home.

Art was born on October 29, 1925, the son of Gerald F. and Rena (Riggs) Hunerdosse. On December 18, 1949 he married Hazel Maude Reed in Fairfield, Iowa. She preceded him in death September 30, 2015.

Art graduated from Melcher-Dallas High School and Parsons College in Fairfield. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, Iowa and Mitchell Engineering in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

He was an avid reader and wood worker.

Survivors include six children: John (Carol) Hunerdosse of West Burlington, Iowa, Ken (Linda) Hunerdosse of LaHarpe, Sandra Rogers of Burlington, Lynn Hunerdosse of West Burlington, Don Hunerdosse of DesMoines, Iowa and Dan Hunerdosse of Santa Rosa, California; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one great-grandson: Hunter O'Donnell and five brothers.

Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the LaHarpe Union Church with Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating.

Inurnment will be held at a later date in Newbern, Iowa.
