Mrs. Alice I. (Moore) Mapes, 88, of LaHarpe, IL passed away at 11:53AM Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.

She was born June 26, 1927 in LaHarpe, the daughter of George A. and Grace Elizabeth Brown Moore. On January 26, 1947 she married Robert L. Mapes in LaHarpe. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2010.

Alice was a graduate of LaHarpe High School. She and her husband owned and operated the Disco Elevator for 24 years. They also operated the Eight Ball Caf, Bobs Tire Shop and along with her brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Carolyn Moore, operated the True Value Store in LaHarpe.

She was a member of the Durham United Methodist Church and the LaHarpe Golden Rule Club. She served on the board of the former LaHarpe Hospital and as an election judge.

She is survived by one brother, Dean (Carolyn)Moore of LaHarpe and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Helen Boone
and 2 brothers, Everett and Gene Moore.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the LaHarpe Christian Church with Pastor Tom Wright officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00PM Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established for St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, LaHarpe Lions Club, Durham United Methodist Church and the LaHarpe Masonic Lodge.
