Mary Eilene Kellogg

Mary Eilene Kellogg, 90, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 12:15 AM at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Faclity.

She was born February 27, 1921 in Fountain Green, Illinois, the daughter of Harry and Millie Wright Cartwright. On September 1, 1968 she married Rev. Forrest D. Kellogg in Disco, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1996.

She attended schools in Fountain Green and graduated from LaHarpe High School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from Western Illinois University. She taught in rural country schools in the LaHarpe area and later in Fountain Green and LaHarpe School Districts, retiring in 1981. She attended the Raritan Reformed Church in Raritan, Illinois where she was Primary Superintendent for many years and a member of the ladies group. She was also a member of the Happy Helpers Club in LaHarpe and the Hancock County Retired Teachers Association. She spent many hours volunteering at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.

She is survived by 2 cousins, Duane Woolverton of LaHarpe and Bill Wright of Keokuk, Iowa.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, January 27, 2012 at the LaHarpe Cemetery with Robert Tillman officiating. Friends may call at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Davier Health Care Center. Send a condolence here.
