Lawrence V. Johnson

Mr. Lawrence V. Johnson, 77 of Terre Haute, Illinois passed away at 5:00 A.M. Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Burlington Care Center, Burlington, Iowa.

He was born May 7, 1934 in Fellsburg, Kansas, the son of Lawrence C. and Lorinda I. Cole Johnson. On August 25, 1966 he married Rose M. Farrare in Morris, Illinois.

Mr. Johnson served in the US Army Reserves and later the US Air Force. He was a retired truck driver, having driven for J.I. Case Co., Star Transport and Barr-Nunn Transportation. He was a member of the LaHarpe Masonic Lodge #195, the Quincy Consistory and the LaHarpe Lions Club where he served as club president in 2000-2001 and 2005-2006. He served on the LaHarpe School District Board from 1990 - 2005 and was president 1995 - 1999. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, William (Lisa) Johnson of Danville, Iowa and Jeffrey (Stacy) Johnson also of Danville, Iowa, 5 grandchildren, Lynette, Samantha, Sydney, Ava and Abigail, 2 brothers, Larry Dean (Linda) Johnson of Liberal, Kansas, William D. (Judy) Johnson of Sandy, Utah, 3 sisters, Velma Durre of Edgewood, Illinois. Leona Coenhour of Kansas City and Lorna (James) Hill of Hooker, Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Noah Gabriel Johnson, 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Graveside services with Military Rites will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, January 23, 2012 in the Terre Haute, Illinois Cemetery with Father Tony Trosley officiating. Friends may call after 2:00 PM Sunday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe where Masonic Rites will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday followed by visitation with the family until 6:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Henderson County Hospice or the Great River Home Health and Hospice. Send a condolence here.
