Merle A. "Bobbi" Lorton

Merle A. “Bobbi” Lorton, age 89 of Gladstone, Illinois, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday December 1, 2011in the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst. She was born December 16, 1921 in Bardolph, Illinois the daughter of William and Mabel Browning Wagoner. On April 6, 1956 ,she married Arthur L. Lorton in Carthage, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1989.

Mrs. Lorton lived most of her adult life in Gladstone. She had been employed at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant, National Research, and Kurrle’s Printing Company, retiring in 1986. She was a fifty year member of the Order Of The Eastern Star. She loved all animals, especially her dogs, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, and her extended family- Marty, Lisa, Joni, and Carley Lafary of Gladstone. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and three sisters.

No visitation or services are planned at this time. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb, Illinois. Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Stronghurst is in charge of arrangements. Send a condolence here.
