Lola I. Dalton

Lola I. Dalton, age 87 of Pekin, Illinois, died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday November 15, 2011 at her home. She was born September 5, 1924 in Stronghurst, Illinois, the daughter of Perry A. and Nellie Mourning Stamp. On June 2, 1944, she married Howard Dalton in Stronghurst. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1985.

Mrs. Dalton was a legal secretary for many years, first with Fort & Fort Attorneys in Stronghurst, and later for several attorneys and firms in the Peoria, Illinois area. She had lived in the Bartonville and Pekin areas for the past fifty years. She was a member of the Bartonville United Methodist Church. He many quilts are a living gift to her family. She also loved maintaining a large garden, canning, cooking, and sharing with family and friends.

Survivors include one daughter- Judith (Robert) Fletcher of Pekin, one son- Rod (Mary) Dalton of St. Petersburg, Florida, four grandchildren- Ami (Shane) Linton of St. Petersburg, FL., Cori Dalton of Pinellas Park, FL., Eric (Jenny) Fletcher of Rochester Hills, MI., Tracy (Tyler) Batten of St. Louis, MO., eight great grandchildren, one brother - Ron (Joan) Stamp of Stronghurst, and two sisters- Madeline Dowell of Stronghurst and Vivian Rankin of Athens, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers- Perry and James Stamp, and one sister- Eileen Hughes.

The funeral service for Mrs. Dalton will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday November 21, 2011 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Rev. Anita Munden officiating. Burial will be in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at Banks & Beals. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice Compassus of Peoria, IL.
