Doren L. Young

Mr. Doren L. Young, 84, of Pontoosuc, Illinois passed away Monday, July 5, 2010 at 12:11 P.M. at his home.
He was born December 27, 1925 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Charles and Bertha Doty Young. On August 8, 1952 he married Norma Lee Seigfried in Kahoka, Missouri.
Mr. Young served in the US Army during World War II. He was a Paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division. He worked as a commercial fisherman for many years and then worked for Gleason Corporation in Fort Madison for 33 years. He attended the Baptist Church in Nauvoo, Illinois.
Surviving are his wife, one son Elliott Young of Colusa, Illinois, one daughter, Leona Young of Pontoosuc, Illinois, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one brother, Albert “Red” Young of Nauvoo.
He was preceded in death by one son, Roy Young five brothers, three sisters and his parents.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. William Sturdivant officiating. Burial will be in the Myers Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, from noon until time of services at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Send a condolence here.
