Jerry Allen Niehaus

Jerry Allen Niehaus, age 81 of Stronghurst, Illinois died at 10:33 p.m. Tuesday May 18, 2010 in the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst. He was born March 12, 1929 in Mediapolis, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Lela Piper Niehaus. On July 4, 1955, he married Charlotte Opie in Hernando, Mississippi. She preceded him in death on March 12, 1999.

Mr. Niehaus was an army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Sylvania Corporation in Burlington, Iowa, and also Tennessee and Kentucky, for thirty one years. He was a member of the Burlington American Legion and Burlington Moose Lodge.

Survivors include one daughter - Donna (Darryn) Roasa of Phoenix, AZ., one son- Eric (Robin) Niehaus of Decatur, IL., one step daughter - Kalene (Jim) Barr of Cheyenne, WY., a special friend - Sandy Bohnenkamp of Stronghurst, five grandchildren- Dustin and David Roasa, Braxton, Chase, and Isabella Niehaus, two step grandchildren- Christy and Janette, and two brothers- Warren Niehaus of Dyersburg, TN., and Frank Niehaus of Burlington, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday May 21, 2010 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Rev. Richard Johnson. No visitation is planned. A memorial fund has been established for Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab of Stronghurst. Send a condolence here.
