Dorla Melton

Dorla Churchill Melton of Duncanville, Texas, devoted wife, beloved mother & Grammy, passed away March 18, 2010. She was born Dec. 22, 1940, in Smithshire, Illinois to Charles & Eleanor (Gibb) Churchill. Retired, Mrs. Melton sold real estate in the area for over 18 years. She was a past member of Texas Association of Realtors and Greater Dallas Board of Realtors and was a graduate of Realtor’’s Institute. Dorla was also very involved in the community as a volunteer for Scottish Rite Hospital, American Heart Association, & the March of Dimes. She had been a member of the Best Southwest Toastmasters Club and American Business Women’’s Association. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, L.R. Melton; children, Teri Lea Nelson of Duncanville, Lori Ann Melton Dahl of Dallas Texas, Bo ““Darin”” Melton & wife, Rachael of Mansfield, Texas, and Doug Melton & wife, Kimberly of Venus, Texas; grandchildren, Joshua Melton, April Melton, Alex Melton, Charles Melton, Ashley Beck, Karissia Jones, Beau Melton, Hannah Nelson, Nigel Nelson, Trevor Nelson & Jace Melton; great grandson, Brayden; brother, Gary McBride of Englewood, Colorado; and sisters, Sherry Markey of Dallas City, Illinois & Sue Chiprez of Burlington, Iowa. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel, in Duncanville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, Illinois. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery, LaHarpe, Illinois. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Banks & Beals in Dallas City. A memorial fund has been established for the Scottish Rite Hospital, Dallas Texas.
