Myrtle Randall

Myrtle Randall, 102, of Macomb, Illinois, formerly of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 at 7:30 P.M. at the Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.
She was born July 22, 1907 near Blandinsville, Illinois the daughter of Edward and Sarah E. (Nelson) Randall.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great- nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Carl, Fred and Frank Randall; sister Mabel Myers, an infant brother and sister, nieces, Lila Cox and Marjorie Armstrong and nephews Dean and Gene Randall.
She graduated from Blandinsville High School in 1925 and from Western Illinois State Teachers College in 1930 with a B.E. Degree in Science and Physical Education. She did graduate work at the University of Iowa and Western Illinois University. She lived in LaHarpe for 62 years, moving to Macomb in 1997.
She taught school in Illinois for thirty-three years including rural schools, Health and Physical Education in Joliet Public Schools, LaHarpe Elementary, Good Hope Elementary and Colchester High School Science and Physical Education. After retiring from teaching she was Unit Secretary at Carthage Memorial Hospital for several years.
She had received a Lindley Scholarship, a special Palmer Certificate, WIU Athletic Letters, RSVP seven year Service Award and Memorial Hospital five and ten year Service Pins.
Myrtle was a member of the WIU 50 year Alumni Club, national, state and local Retired Teacher Associations and a former member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
She became a member of Old Bedford Christian Church as a teen and transferred to LaHarpe Christian Church in 1935 where she has served as a teacher, secretary of Missionary Circle, Secretary and Treasure of TNT Class and helping in other activities.
Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Mark Mathew officiating. Burial will be in the South Cemetery at Blandinsville. There will be no formal visitation with the family but friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until time of services.
