Mary K. Harris

Mrs. Mary K. Harris, 85, of Fort Madison, Iowa passed away Friday, November 6, 2009 at 5:00 A.M. in her home.

She was born April 1, 1924 in Marion County, Missouri, the daughter of Truman and Mary Iva Modrell Hensley. On July 4, 1942 she married George Welch in Quincy, Illinois. He died December 6, 1978. On December 1, 1989 she married Emery Harris in Durham, Illinois.

She was a graduate of the Emerson High School, Emerson, Missouri. She had worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 23 ½ years. She was a member of the Durham United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, 2 daughters, Janice (Bill) Morin of West Burlington, Iowa and Sharla Gerdom of Lomax, Illinois, 6 grandchildren, Dawn Walstrom, Michael Morin, Darin and David Worley, Zachary and Elizabeth Welch, 2 step-grandchildren, Jenny Hagerty and Matthew Harris, 5 great-grandchildren, Zane and Delaney Walstrom, Anna Morin and Garett and Dakota Worley, 5 step-great-grandchildren, Jordan Walker, Sadie and Becca Cassiday and Chloe and Sylvia Hagerty, 1 brother, Dr. Lyle D. Hensley of Springfield, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, 1 son, Jack Welch, 1 stepson, David Harris, 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, Illinois with Rev. Tom Wright and Bruce Hensley officiating. Burial will be in the Carman Cemetery, Carman, Illinois. Friends may call after 4:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday.
