Layla D. Rashid

Layla Diane Rashid, 28, of Orchard Lake, Michigan passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at her home.

She was born March 30, 1981 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Stanley F. and Brenda S. Gilpin Rashid.

Layla was a graduate of the West Bloomfield, MI High School and recieved an Associate degree from Oakland Community College. She also attended Oakland University. She enjoyed music, writing and working as a make-up consultant. She was currently employed doing computer research for Dusek Network, Inc.

She is survived by her mother and step-father, Brenda and Richard F. Dusek of Orchard Lake, MI, her father and step-mother, Stanley F. and Eva Rashid of Kingman, AZ, one brother, Omar Richard Rashid of Orchard Lake, one step-brother, Dan Dusek of Chicago, two stepsisters, Kathy Dusek of Bay City, MI and Debbie Metcalf of Nashville, TN, her maternal grandparents, Frank and Dolores Gilpin of Pontoosuc, Illinois, her uncles, Mike (Lori) Gilpin of Dallas City, IL and Rick (Terry) Rashid of Redmond, WA and her aunt, Norma Rashid of Fort Thomas, KY. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Farris and Ramona Rashid.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Dallas City with Tony Newton officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. Friends may call after 4:00 P.M. Monday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday.
