John O. Spiker

Mr. John O. Spiker, 76, of Lomax, Illinois passed away Monday, October 19, 2009 at 9:45 P.M. at his home.
He was born December 30, 1932 near Lomax, the son of Floyd and Helen Bowlyou Spiker.
Earlier in life he worked at a gas station in Dallas City, Illinois and at the JI Case Co. in Burlington, Iowa. For the past 36 years he owned and operated John’s Auto Sales in Lomax. He was instrumental in establishing the Lomax Saddle Club and had served as its president. He also played in a band.
Surviving are his special friend and companion of the last 17 years, Janice Baker, 5 daughters, Pamela Houghton of Downing, Missouri, Kathy Keith of Lomax, Lori “Buffy” Graber of Memphis, Missouri, Julie Alber of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Michelle Witte of Burlington, Iowa, 3 sons, Lance Alber of Burlington, Iowa, Delbert Alber of Gulfport, Illinois and gary Alber of Lomax, 17grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Larry Spiker of Lomax and 2 sisters, Sandy Dumsey of Danville, Iowa and Vivian Hartley of Memphis, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Donald Spiker.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 23, 2009 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. John Bremer officiating. Burial will be in the Crane Cemetery, near Lomax. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday. A memorial fund has been established for the PAWS Animal Shelter, Ft. Madison, IA, Lomax Ambulance Service, Lomax Fire Department or a charity of the donor’s choice. Send a condolence here
