Joan M. Dooley

Mrs. Joan M. Dooley, 79, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Friday, August 28, 2009 at 3:00 A.M. at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center, LaHarpe, Illinois.

She was born February 28, 1930 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Roy and Beulah Ross Schneeberger. On July 23, 1949 she married Leo J. Dooley in Quincy. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1992.

She was raised in Quincy and lived in Dallas City since 1957. She had attended nursing school in Quincy before her marriage. She served as a volunteer at the Memorial Hospital and the Hancock County Nursing in Carthage, Illinois. She enjoyed reading and sewing and was a member of the book club at the Carthage Library.

Surviving are five daughters, Janet Strope of Kansas City, Missouri, Mary Schiedel of Princeton, Illinois, Patty Peterson of Knoxville, Illinois, Sharon Puckett of Sedalia, Missouri and Sandy Johnson of Farmington, Iowa, three sons, David Dooley and Michael Dooley both of Dallas City and Roy Dooley of Rockport, Illinois, 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one sister, Janet Schneeberger of Quincy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandson, one son-in-law and her parents.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, August 31, 2009 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Larry Menschel officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. There will be no formal visitation with the family but friends are welcome to stop at the funeral home Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. A memorial fund has been established for the Memorial Hospital, Carthage, IL.
