Kathryn Elizabeth (Thomas) Beals, 102, of Sullivan (mother of the late Dean Beals, of LaHarpe) passed away 6:40 p.m. Monday August 10, 2009 at Mason Point, Sullivan

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday August 14, 2009 at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials may be made to the Highway Church of Christ, Sullivan or to Mason Point, Sullivan.

Kathryn was born January 2, 1907 in Sigel, the daughter of Elmer and Stella (Peters) Thomas. She married George F. Beals April 19, 1924. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1988. She was the retired owner and operator of Beals Shelter Care Home of Sullivan. She was a member of the Highway Church of Christ, Sullivan, the Rebekah Lodge, Sullivan and the Business and Professional Women’s Association.

She is survived by her son, Duane Beals of Decatur; daughters, Janette (Dean) McReynolds, Bethany and Joan (David) Richardson of Douglas, WY; daughter in law, Patsy (Bill) Housewright of LaHarpe; good friend, Carolyn Houser of Sullivan; 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, Dale and Dean; daughter, Clara Mae Ater; four brothers, three sisters and two grandsons. Send a condolence here.
