Donald E. Rings

Mr. Donald E. Rings, 69, of rural Dallas City, Illinois passed away Friday, June 26, 2009, of natural causes, while farming near Colusa, Illinois.

He was born Mach 3, 1940 near Fountain Green, Illinois, the son of Fred and Marjorie Lambert Rings. On April 1, 1961 he married Beverly E. Schuster in Carthage, Illinois.

Mr. Rings moved from Fountain Green to the Colusa area when he was in the fifth grade. He graduated from Colusa High School in 1958 and farmed all of his adult life near Colusa. He served in various capacities with many organizations, including the McDonough Telephone Coop, where he served on the board for over 20 years and was past board chairman. He was a Rock Creek Township Trustee and was also a member of the Colusa United Methodist Church, where he was currently serving as chairman of the board.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Randall (Danielle) Rings of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Russell (Nicol) Rings of Nauvoo, Illinois, three grandchildren, Abigail Rings, William Rings and Devin Rings and one sister, Mary Havens of Sutter, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the Colusa United Methodist Church with Ron Leonard and Bob Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the Thornber Cemetery near Powellton Illinois. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established for the Colusa United Methodist Church.
