Esther V. Gustafson

Mrs. Esther V. Gustafson, 94, of Lomax, Illinois, formerly of Burlington, Iowa passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 1:15 P.M. at the Prairie Ridge Care and Rehabilitation in Mediapolis, Iowa.

She was born January 11, 1915 in Burlington, the daughter of Oscar and Mary Bittner Magnuson. On February 29, 1936 she married Ivar Gustafson in Burlington. He preceded her in death in 1968.

She and her husband farmed north of Burlington for many years. She lived with her daughter for the past 2 years.

Surviving are one son, David Gustafson of Burlington, one daughter, Joyce Thompson of Lomax, 5 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.

The family will meet with friends Tuesday, June 9, 2009 from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the Peace Lutheran Church in Prairie Grove, Iowa where services will be held at 11:00 AM with Rev. Cindy Johnson and Rev. Peggy Stott officiating. Burial will be in the Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Peace Lutheran Church.
