Megan R. Shutwell

Megan Renee Shutwell, age 26 of Galesburg, Illinois died at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday May 27, 2009 at her home. She was born April 22, 1983 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Jerry and Peggy McPeak Shutwell.

Megan was a 2001 graduate of the former Union High School in Biggsville where she was a member of the National Honor Society, and was outstanding in girls’ sports. She then attended Central College in Pella, Iowa where she participated in women’s volleyball and track. She loved animals and was a member of the Biggsville United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her parents of Biggsville, IL., three sisters- Stacey (Hector) Bucchianeri of Carson City, NV., Jennifer Thompson of Huntersville, NC., Michelle (Chris) Dunn of Albuquerque, NM., two brothers - Chad (Tessa) Shutwell of Fort Madison, IA., Nick (Melissa) Shutwell of Overland Park, KS., her grandmother - Virginia Shutwell of LaHarpe, IL., and six nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents - Vernon Shutwell and James E. and Donna McPeak.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday June 1, 2009 in the Biggsville United Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the LaHarpe Cemetery, LaHarpe, Illinois. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Biggsvile United Presbyterian Church. A memorial fund has been established for the girls’ sports programs at West Central High School in Biggsville. Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Stronghurst is in charge of arrangements.
