Kathrine Mae Glisan
Mrs. Kathrine Mae Glisan, age 90 of Denmark, Iowa passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 4:10 P.M. at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.
She was born October 20, 1918 in Disco, Illinois, the daughter of Sidney Chester and Sophronia McCord Link. On February 27, 1937 she married Robert G. Glisan in Macomb, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1996.
Mrs. Glisan and her husband farmed near LaHarpe, Illinois for many years. They moved to the Denmark area in 1958 where they continued farming. She also worked as a nurses aid in the Pediatric Department at the former Mercy Hospital in Burlington. She then worked at Sheaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, Iowa for 20 years. She was a member of the White Dots at Sheaffer Pen, the Denmark Senior Citizens and the LaHarpe Christian Church. She enjoyed knitting afghans, sewing and gardening. She had a loving caring heart and hands that often offered help to her friends and family.
Surviving are three daughters, Patricia (Ron) Cox of Poplar Grove, Illinois, Marjorie (Paul) Ruebush of Orange Park, Florida and Juanita (Marvin) Anderson of Wever, Iowa, two sons, Ron (Louanne) Glisan of Leaf River, Illinois and Roger (Ellen) Glisan of San Antonio, Texas, 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 expected great-great-grandchild, one brother, Eldon (Hazel) Link of Quincy, Illinois, one sister, Helen Ruth White of Carlinville, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, including her twin, Herman Link and Kenneth, John and Vernon Link and three sisters, Lola Cooper, Lois Idel Kreps and Vivian Link.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev. John Simpson officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday.
