Thomas Richard McNeill

Mr. Thomas Richard McNeill, 90, of Reedsport, Oregon, formerly of Lomax, Illinois passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay, Oregon.

He was born January 3, 1919 in Gary Indiana the son of John W. and Harriett “Hattie” Williams McNeill. He was married to Marjorie Stooksberry in 1943. They later divorced. He then married Vona Worley. They were divorced.

His family moved to Lomax when he was a young child and he lived there the majority of his life. He served in the US Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a beekeeper and sold honey and raised and sold watermelons.

He is survived by one daughter, Sonna Iddings of Gresham, Oregon, two sons, Steven McNeill of Reedsport, Oregon and Scott McNeill of Portland, Oregon, one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son and daughter, Tommy and Tiah McNeill, three brothers, Edgar, John and Delbert McNeill and his parents.Graveside services with Military Rites will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the Dallas City Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Banks & Beals Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Send a condolence here.
