Enid Blackledge
Enid Blackledge, 91, of Blandinsville, Illinois passed away Friday, April 3, 2009 at 6:45 P.M. at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, Illinois.
She was born November 12, 1917 in Blandinsville, the daughter of Robert James and Lodemma Jobe Blackledge.
Earlier in life Enid worked for Radio Manufacturing and Engineering in Peoria. In 1948 she moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked as a bookkeeper. She returned to Illinois in 1970 and worked as a bookkeeper for the Sciota Elevator. She enjoyed antiques and going to auctions. She loved animals, especially dogs and would often “babysit’ friends’ dogs. She was a member of the Argyle Bible Church, of rural Colchester.
She is survived by her friend, Ruth Dudley of Blandinsville and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Carroll Robert, Bert and Lowell Bleckledge, 3 sisters, Fern Wilson, Madge Pearson and June Lefler and her parents.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the Argyle Bible Church with Pastor Mike Deblois officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville. A memorial fund has been established for the Argyle Bible Church or the animal shelter.
