Raymond E. Ferguson

Mr. Raymond E. Ferguson, 85 of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 1:51 P.M. at the Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, Missouri.
He was born May 10, 1923 in Williamstown, Missouri, the son of Guy and Rhoda Thrasher Ferguson. On December 16, 1951 he married Esther Suechting in Basco, Illinois.
Mr. Ferguson was a lifelong farmer. He began farming in Missouri and moved to Illinois in 1948. Early in their marriage he and his wife lived in Burnside, IL and later moved to the farm west of LaHarpe. He was a member of the Eagles Club, the Moose Lodge and the Global Truth Ministries of Carthage. He enjoyed bluegrass music, camping and animals. He raised both cattle and hogs.
Surviving are his wife, three sons, Larry ((Jackie) Ferguson of Blandinsville, Illinois, Jerry (Julie) Ferguson, and Terry (Patti) Ferguson all of LaHarpe, one daughter, Sherry (Larry Cornelius) Ferguson of LaHarpe, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Ferguson, one sister, Bertha Briscoe, his parents and step-mother, Chloe Ferguson.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev. James Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Moss Ridge Cemetery, Carthage, Illinois with Aaron Ferguson officiating. Friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturday. A memorial fund has been established for the American Heart Association, Global Truth Ministries and the Hancock County Ambulance. Send a condolence here.
