Edythe A. Richards

Mrs. Edythe A. Richards, 92, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away at 10:35 A.M. Monday, March 30, 2009 at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb, Illinois. She was born April 17, 1916 in Wyaconda, Missouri, the daughter of Coleman and Ole Goodson Peterson. On June 17, 1934, she married Leonard Richards in Peoria County, Illinois. He preceded her in death in October of 1974.
Earlier in her life, Edythe had lived in the Peoria area where she worked at the Boston Glove Factory, Pier Marquette Hotel, and Caterpiller Tractor Company. Later, she and her husband owned and operated a vacation trailer park in Apache Junction, Arizona. She returned to this area in 1975 following the death of her husband. She had lived in Sciota, Carthage, and most recently, LaHarpe.
Survivors include one daughter - Charlene (Edwin) Hillers of LaHarpe, two grandsons - Edwin Hillers II and Scot Hillers, one sister, several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
At Edythe’s request, there will be no visitation or services. Private burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to McDonough District Hospice, Fountain Green Fire Department, or the American Cancer Society.
