LaVerne Parsons

Mrs. A. LaVerne Parsons, 98, of the Montebello Healthcare Center in Hamilton, Illinois, formerly of Dallas City, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 9:20 P.M. at the Healthcare Center.

She was born October 2, 1910 in Webster, Illinois, the daughter of Chester and Ethel Conn Callihan. On September 25, 1937 she married Ross W. Parsons in Carthage, IL. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1971.

She attended grade school in Webster and graduated from the Fountain Green High School. She worked at the Carthage Memorial Hospital for 13 years and at McDonough District Hospital for 2 years. She lived in Webster until moving to Dallas City in 1971. She enjoyed gardening and watching baseball, both college and pro and college basketball.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Sutton of Dallas City, 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son. Ross B. Parsons and three sisters in infancy.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, March 16, 2009 at the McConnell Cemetery near Fountain Green with Rev. Larry Van Gundy officiating. Friends may call at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, Sunday between 2:00 and 4:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Webster Community Church or the McConnell Cemetery.
