Gary M. Olson

Mr. Gary M. Olson, 75, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009 7:05 A.M. at his home.

He was born November 2, 1933 in Dallas City, the son of Frank and Rose Betron Olson. On August 16, 1953 he married Betty L. Klossing in Dallas City.

Mr. Olson was a graduate of Dallas City High School and was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the US Air Force from 1953 - 1957. He worked at the Dallas City Quarry as a heavy equipment operator for 42 years. He was a member of he Operators Union and a 50 year member of the Dallas City American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Doug Olson of Fort Madison, Iowa and Greg (Malinda) Olson of Dallas City, one grandson, Jarod Olson of Dallas City, one brother, Andrew Olson of Dallas City and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jacob Olson, three brothers and five sisters.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 9, 2009 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Father Tony Trosley officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. There will not be a formal visitation with the family present, but friends are welcome to stop at the funeral home between 2:00 and 6:00 P.M. Sunday. A memorial fund has been established for the Dallas City Veterans Memorial.. Send a condolence here.
