Lois Tate

Lois Jeanettia Tate, age 84 of Lomax, Illinois passed away Wednesday March4, 2009 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst, Illinois.

She was born June 8, 1924 in Green County, Illinois, the daughter of Harry S. and Ethel L. McAdams Holford. On June 20, 1942, she married Romane J. Tate in St. Charles, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2002.

Lois Lived most of her life in Lomax, and was a resident of Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab for the past twenty-seven months. She had worked at the Lomax Canning Factory, Lomax-Dallas City School District, and Pioneer Lumber Company homes division. She enjoyed her flowers, collecting toothpick holders, cooking, and spending time with her family and her “fair-weather” friend, Marilyn.

Survivors include three sons - Harry W. (Mae Dell) Tate, and Otho D. (Pamela) Tate, both of Dallas City, IL., Frankie J. (Eileen) Tate of Gladstone, IL., one daughter - Diana L. (Thomas) Doran of Carman, Illinois, a son in law - Herbie Smith of Sherrard, IL., twelve grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren, two brothers - Robert Holford of Eldred, IL., Herman (Joy) Holford of Winchester, IL., and one sister - Janie Jones of Eldred, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two daughters - Sara S. Tate and Mary Ann Smith.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday ,with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday March 7, 2009 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Menschel officiating. Burial will be in the Terre Haute Cemetery, Terre Haute Illinois.
