Harold E. Brown

Harold E. Brown, age 74 of LaHarpe, Illinois died at 7:29 A.M. Monday March 2, 2009 at his home. He was born August 15, 1934 in LaHarpe, the son of Earnest and Ruth Smith Brown. On July 23, 1955, he married Irene Harding in Stronghurst, Illinois.

Harold was a lifelong resident of LaHarpe. He had worked for eight years at American Thermos in Macomb, and later worked as a drill press operator for J.I. Case Company in Burlington, Iowa for thirty two years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed restoring antique cars and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter - Lana Brown of Des Moines, Iowa, two sons - Larry Brown of LaHarpe, Darren (Susan) Brown of Lewistown, Illinois, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one sister - Joan Hughes of LaHarpe. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday March 5, 2009 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Harry Miller officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Banks & Beals, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday.
