Maxine M. Terry

Mrs. Maxine M. Terry, age 91, a resident of the Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage, Illinois, formerly of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009 at 12:25 P.M. at the Memorial Hospital in Carthage.

She was born November 25, 1917 near Dallas City, the daughter of J. Frank and Minnie Avise Paulus. On April 13, 1941 she married Lyle G. Terry in Lancaster, Missouri.

Mrs. Terry worked as a clerk at grocery stores in both Dallas City and Colusa. She also worked at the Post Office in Colusa and at the Hancock County Treasurer’s office. She was an avid baker. She did catering and made and decorated many cakes and candy. She was a member of the Dallas City American Legion Auxiliary for 60 years and the Colusa United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Lyle, of the Hancock County Nursing Home, her twin sister, Eileen Lehr of Carthage, 11 nieces and nephews, 19 great-nieces and nephews and 23 great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Eugene Terry, one brother, Lloyd Paulus and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Jim Luder officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. There will not be a formal family visitation, but friends are welcome to stop at the funeral home between 3:00 and 8:00 P.M. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Colusa United Methodist Church.
