Rex Carter

Mr. Rex H. Carter, age 60, of Burnside, Illinois passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 6:25 P.M. at his home.

He was born January 18, 1949 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the son of Clifford and Margaret Mittermyer Carter. On August 4, 1987, he married Judyth Armstrong in Burlington, Iowa.

Mr Carter was an army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He had farmed, worked at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant, Chem-Gro, and Nauvoo Bleu Cheese Factory. He was a member of the LaHarpe American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Bass Club of Fort Madison, and the NRA.

Survivors include his wife, one son Scott McGuire of Nauvoo, Illinois, two grandchildren - Tara Puckett and Sam McGuire, one great granddaughter - Kaleigha Puckett, one brother - Lee Carter of Burlington, Iowa, one sister - Linda Crabill of Joplin, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Graveside services with military rites will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday February 17, 2009 in the Appanoose Cemetery near Niota, Illinois with Rev. Bill Deisher officiating. Masonic Rites will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, followed by visitation with the family until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the charity of the donor’s choice.
