Catherine "Katy" Burk
Catherine “Katy” Burk, 94, of the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, Missouri, formerly of Dallas City, Illinois died Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 8:35 AM at the nursing home. She was born January 12, 1915 in Knox County, MO., the daughter of Harve and Sylvia Runquist Arment. On October 29, 1939, she married William H. “Bill” Burk in Edina, MO. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1994.
Mrs. Burk worked in Chicago for several years, moved to Niota, IL., in 1961. She then moved to Dallas City in 1969, where she resided until moving to the Knox County Nursing Home in 2004. She was a member of the Dallas City Senior Citizens and the Order Of The Eastern Star. She enjoyed making quilts crafts, and was an avid card player. She was a very outgoing person and enjoyed life.
Survivors include one sister in-law - Trella Arment of San Simon, AZ., eleven nieces and nephews - Sidney “Sonny” (Deb) Arment Jr., of Potosi, MO., Mary Ann (Gary) Yoakum of Edina, MO., David (Beverly) Arment of Edina, MO., Dean (Donna) Cunningham of Krikwood, IL., Gary (Carol) Cunningham of Aledo, IL., Rex (Terry) Cunningham of East Alton, IL., Betty Schaper of Farmington, MO., Jean Hank of Seaton, IL., Gordon (Dorothy) Cooper of Aledo, IL., Dorothy (Glen) Bennett of Aledo, IL., Patricia (Dick) McPheron of Phoenix, AZ., several great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers - Santford Arment and his wife Geraldine, and Sidney Arment.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 13, 2009 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Pastor Alan Davidson officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday from noon until time of services. A memorial fund has been established for the Dallas City Senior Citizens or the Lomax Ambulance Service.Send a condolence here.
