Harriet J. Piles

Mrs. Harriet Jane Piles, 85, of Niota, Illinois passed away Monday, February 2, 2009 at 3:35 P.M. at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.

She was born September 30, 1923 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the daughter of Emery and Ethel Link Lefler. On December 21, 1946 she married Raymond Piles. He preceded her in death in 1993.

She was a graduate of LaHarpe High School. She worked at W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co. in Fort Madison for many years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, attended the Grace Bible Church in Dallas City and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Dennis (Melaney) Piles of Niota, two grandsons, Jamie Piles of Niota and Kory Piles of Chillicothe, Illinois, six great-grandchildren, one brother, Dale Lefler of Sliver Springs, Maryland and one niece.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Vernon and Bob Lefler and one sister, Maxine Lefler.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Banks & beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Revs. Jim Luder and Larry Menschell officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
