James Edward Patton

James Edward Patton, age 56 of Warsaw, Illinois, died at 2:29 P.M. Tuesday December 9, 2008 in the Carthage Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Illinois.

He was born July 17, 1952 in Warren County, Illinois and was adopted by Robert and Hermena Jones Patton. On November 27, 1982, he married Sally May Vass in Colusa, Illinois.

He had worked for the State of Illinois Mental Health Department, and later worked as a nurse’s aid in the social services and activities department at the Montebello Manor Nursing Home in Hamilton for sixteen years, before failing health forced his early retirement. He was an avid Cub’s Fan and loved to care for his farm animals. He was a member of the Colusa United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sally, several brothers and sisters, including his foster brother - James (and Dee) Lipe of Galesburg, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother - David Strange.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday December 13, 2008 in the Colusa United Methodist Church with Carl Vass and Verla Custer officiating. Burial will be in the Byler Cemetery. Friends may call afer 3:00 P.M. Friday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday.
