Jerry L. Collins

Mr. Jerry L. Collins, 60, of Burlington, Iowa died Sunday, July 27, 2008 while fishing at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant.

He was born July 16, 1948 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the son of Owen and Louise Dunn Collins.
He graduated from LaHarpe High School and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. For the past seven years he worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant as a security guard. He enjoyed fishing and golfing.

He is survived by his special friend, Amy Oetken of Burlington, his mother, Louise Collins of LaHarpe, two sons, Joshua Lane Collins of Oquawka, Illinois and Jody Lynn Collins of Gladstone, Illinois, three grandchildren, Tom, Stephanie and Tyler Collins and one sister, Penny Brewer of LaHarpe.

He was preceded in death by his father, two nephews and his grandparents.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Darren Beachy officiating. Burial, with Military Rites, will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until time of services. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, between 3:00 and 8:00 P.M.
