Wayne A. Rettig

Wayne A. Rettig, 66, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 10:03 P.M. at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

He was born July 31, 1941 in Lomax, Illinois, the son of James and Della M. Logan Rettig. On November 15, 1963 he married Linda Marsden in Dallas City.
He was raised in Lomax and graduated from the Dallas City High School in 1959. He and his wife owned and operated Rettig’s Furniture Store in Dallas City from 1967 until 2006. Mr. Rettig served on the Dallas City Fire Department for 33 years; 1974 - 2007. He enjoyed raising miniature horses.

Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Janelle Rettig and her partner Robin Butler of Iowa City, Iowa, two brothers, Ralph Rettig of Augusta, Iowa and Gary Rettig of Laurinburg, North Carolina and his faithful four-legged companion, Molly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Marilyn Rettig and two brothers, Merlin and James Rettig.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. John Bremer officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. Friends may call between 3:00 and 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends on Thursday from noon until time of services.
